Skills for Life

Reading, writing and maths form a vital part of all our lives, no matter what kind of job we do. How competent we are at using these “Skills for Life” affects our confidence, our ability to do our job and our quality of life. There are many adults who, for a variety of reasons, did not reach a particular standard in English and Maths at school. AUK helps individuals to improve their literacy and/or numeracy skills, so that they become more confident. We also offer ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) courses to support the development needs of people for whom English is not their first language.

Candidates on our literacy and numeracy courses attend for two hours a week over 10 weeks. ESOL courses require two hours a week for 15 weeks.
